Individuals can be bright and capable, but still struggle to understand what they read, explain their ideas, stay organized, or keep up with increasingly complex tasks. Many individuals who have difficulty with higher-level language benefit from support strengthening and integrating the foundational language systems that underlie these skills, including vocabulary (semantics), phonology (decoding and encoding), word structure (morphology), sentence structure (syntax), and social language (pragmatics). Weaknesses in one or more of these areas can impact reading comprehension, written expression, critical thinking, and academic performance as language demands become more complex. Many individuals also benefit from learning executive functioning strategies, such as planning, prioritizing, organization, problem-solving, and self-monitoring.
My goal is to identify each individual’s unique strengths and areas of need. We will then work together to create a comprehensive treatment plan that builds the language and thinking skills needed for success both in and out of the classroom.
